2019 Africa Cup of Nations hosts Egypt is set to face struggling DR Congo on Wednesday in their second Group A match. The two teams will meet on the pitch of Cairo International Stadium at 10:00 CLT. The Pharaohs survived a scare in their Africa Cup of Nations opener against Zimbabwe with Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan’s spectacular winner clinching a 1-0 victory.
Egypt had the better of the match from beginning to end in all fairness، claiming 60% of the possession.
With Trezeguet in form and double English Premier League Golden Boot winner Mohamed Salah in their ranks، Egypt has no shortage of potential scorers. Zimbabwe held firm against Javier Aguirre’s men for much of their opener but DR Congo is set to struggle.
Egypt has won seven of their last nine matches and can be backed for another victory against DR Congo.
The Leopards opened with a very disappointing 2-0 loss to Uganda and now must come up against the tournament favourites in front of a hostile Cairo crowd.
The Leopards also missed chances at the other end and star player Yannick Bolasie had a poor match.
All is not lost for Jean-Florent Ibenge’s men but the match against Egypt could hardly come at a worse time. DR Congo has won just one of their last 10 matches، drawing six and losing three.
Egypt is unbeaten against DR Congo with four wins and two draws. Their most recent encounter was a 0-0 draw in a 2012 friendly but Egypt is far stronger now.
