Egypt calls for speeding up negotiations on Ethiopia's mega-dam

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shouky has called for the speeding up of negotiations over a controversial dam Addis Ababa is building on the Nile، during talks with his Ethiopian counterpart Gedu Andargachew on Thursday، the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Shoukry said Egypt will call a meeting “at the earliest opportunity” between the foreign and irrigation ministers of the two countries and Sudan، to continue negotiations on the 6،000-megawatt Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam، which Ethiopia hopes will help it become Africa’s biggest power exporter.

Trezeguet's curler gives Egypt opening Nations Cup win

Mahmoud Trezeguet netted in the first half to give an otherwise disappointing Egypt a 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe in their opening Africa Cup of Nations clash at Cairo Stadium on Friday.

Despite being roared on by a sell-out crowd at the 75،000-seat venue، where Egypt won the Nations Cup in 1986 and 2006، the Pharaohs struggled to break down a disciplined Zimbabwe side who showed flashes of pretty football despite creating little danger.

Saturday AFCON matches: Nigeria start، DRC hope for a victory
Hospitals on high alert ahead 2019 AFCO

Hospitals in the four Egyptian governorates that will host the matches of the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) are on high alert، announced the Ministry of Health in a statement on Friday.

The AFCON matches will take place at stadiums in Cairo، Alexandria، Ismailia، and Suez Canal governorate، starting on Friday until July 19. Two hospitals in every governorate were allocated for receiving possible injured or ill fans as 30 percent of the hospital beds were allocated for emergency cases.
