Egypt’s Foreign Minister، Sameh Shoukry confirmed on Egypt’s keenness to enhance political consultation with Senegal regarding various peace and security issues in the continent، in the light of the key role played by Senegal in this regard.
This came during the meeting held between Shoukry and his Senegalese Counterpart، on the sidelines of the preparatory meeting held in Saudi Arabia ahead of the 14th session of the organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
During the meeting، Shoukry hailed the historic and brotherly relations between Egypt and Senegal، stressing the need to continue consultations between both countries in the framework of OIC، as Senegal considered one of the most important Islamic countries in Africa.
Moreover، Shoukry expressed Egypt’s appreciations for the outcomes of President، Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi’s visit to Dakar last April 2019، pointing out to Egypt’s keenness to hold the Egyptian-Senegalese joint committee within the coming period، and to increase the volume of trade exchange between both countries.
For his part، Senegalese FM stressed on his country’s keenness to enhance bilateral relations with Egypt، especially in Trade field. In addition، he praised the key role played by Egypt during its current presidency to the African Union (AU).
Noteworthy، Soukry left for Saudi Arabia on Wednesday to take part in the preparatory meeting of the 14th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) due to be held in Mecca on May 31.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said the preparatory meeting will discuss regional and international issues topped by the Palestinian cause، terror combat and Ismophobia.
