Philippine President Rodrigo Duterti has ordered Canadian waste shipped back to its country of origin، in an escalation of the diplomatic row between the two countries.
The spokesman for President Salvador Panilo، according to France 24، warned on Wednesday that if Ottawa did not formally accept the shipment of waste، it would be dumped in Canadian territorial waters.
The spokesman confirmed that، as a result of this disquieting delay، the President had ordered the Bureau to search for a private freight forwarding company to Canada.
Waste is stored in dozens of containers sent by a Canadian company to the Philippines in 2013 and 2014 on the grounds that it is recyclable and has been disputed for years.
Last week، Manila withdrew its ambassador from Canada because of Ottawa's failure to meet the deadline set for May 15 to return the waste.
