Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker said Tuesday that the government is exerting huge efforts to complete the development works of the electricity sector، stressing that the state’s development plan of transmission and distribution networks will be finished within five years.
These remarks came during a press conference held today to unveil new hikes in electricity prices scheduled to be applied starting in July 2019.
During the meeting، Shaker added that the development works of electricity’s transmission and distribution grids will highly contribute to the improvement of service.
He pointed out that the development plan will be completed in 2024، attributing such delay to the need for large efforts during the coming five years.
The Minister pointed out that the Ministry of Planning has granted EGP 1.7 billion to the electricity for replacing all air transmission and distribution lines to ground cables as this confirms the state’s interest in developing the electricity sector and improving the service provided to citizens.
