An appeals court in Rio de Janeiro has re-imprisoned former Brazilian President Michel Tamer، who is being prosecuted for corruption.

A judge at the Court of Appeal، according to Sky News on Thursday، said the decision was "effective immediately،" adding that the court overturned a court a sentence on March 25 that ordered the release of the former president.

Michel Tamer، who ruled Brazil between 2016 and 2018، is suspected of leading a "criminal organization" that has misappropriated hundreds of millions of dollars، according to the channel. At the end of March، he spent four days behind bars as a precaution.

The investigation، which stopped 78-year-old Tamer، began five years ago and dealt with the biggest corruption scandal in Brazil's history.
