Egypt’s president, Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi said that the Arab-Chinese relations have witnessed a significant breakthrough since the holding of the Belt and Road Forum 1st summit.
In his word before the inaugural session of 2nd “Belt and Road” Forum, President al-Sisi thanked Chinese president Xi Jiniping on the warm reception and hospitality, stressing that his 6th visit to China during the last 5 years reflects the deep and strong strategic relations between the two countries.
Moreover, Al-Sisi expressed his aspiration to establish partnerships in the framework of the implementation of the Maritime Linkage between Lake Victoria and the Mediterranean as one of the key infrastructure projects of the COMESA bloc, to achieve various economic and commercial interests.
“I seize this opportunity to invite international companies and institutions within the framework of The Belt and road initiative to contribute to these projects”, Al-Sisi continued.
Moreover, he added that the success of such projects requires the provision of finance on terms that are appropriate to the conditions of the developing and least- developed countries, especially in our African continent.
This needs a concerted action through effective partnerships between governments, funding institutions and the private sector to ensure the necessary flows to bridge the financing gap, Al-Sisi confirmed.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi confirmed that the objectives of the Belt and Road Initiative are constant with Egypt’s endeavors towards implementing mega projects that seek realizing large profits alongside creating diversified investment opportunities.
These mega projects are topped by the Suez Canal Development Corridor that is meant to serve as an industrial and logistic hub capable of offering promising opportunities for Chinese companies as well as countries taking part in the belt initiative.
At the African level, Egypt’s current presidency to the African Union (AU) pays a great attention to the country’s active participation in “Belt and road” initiative, Al-Sisi said, adding, during African-Chinese cooperation forum held latest September 2019, China expressed its keenness to coordinate with all African countries regarding various issues like; AU Agenda 2063, and UN agenda 2030.
Noteworthy, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi visited China on Wednesday to attend the Belt and Road forum for international cooperation in Beijing, which witnessed the participation of several presidents and prime ministers.
