Britney Spears' Conservatorship Gets New Status Hearing
Thursday 25/April/2019 - 10:21 AM
Britney Spears' conservatorship will get a status hearing next month، entertainment tonight reported.
According to court documents obtained by ET on Wednesday، a judge set the hearing for May 10. Spears will not need to be present.
It is not noted why a new status hearing was set by the judge. Britney's father، Jamie Spears، has been her conservator since 2008، and he became her sole conservator this year after his former co-conservator، attorney Andrew Wallet، resigned in March.
Earlier this month، a source told ET that Spears checked herself into a health facility to deal with the tremendous stress she's been having over her father suffering a life-threatening health issue. Late last year، Jamie was rushed to the hospital when his colon ruptured and spent 28 days in the hospital. At the time، the Spears family credited the doctors and nurses for saving his life، and in January، Spears put her career on an indefinite hiatus -- postponing her album and putting her Britney: Domination show at Park Theater at the Park MGM resort in Las Vegas on hold -- in order to support her father.
Meanwhile، Spears has been spotted out multiple times while still in treatment، such as on Easter Sunday at the Montage hotel in Beverly Hills، California، where she was with her longtime boyfriend، Sam Asghari. A source tells ET that Spears remains in treatment but is allowed "outings،" as she works on her "mind، body and soul."
Another source tells ET that Spears now wants to leave the health facility.
"Britney knows she needs help but has made it clear she wants to go home،" the source says. "She feels far better than she did when she arrived and hates feeling under a microscope."
"While she is finally on the right path to getting healthy again، Britney does miss her autonomy،" the source adds. "She is under constant care both in and out of the facility. At this point، she is doing everything she can to return home and hopes to be released soon."
On Tuesday، Spears assured fans on Instagram that she's fine after allegations were made on the Britney's Gram podcast that she was being held against her will، and some fans held a protest outside West Hollywood City Hall on Monday with signs reading "Free Britney." The fans demanded that the singer be released from a health facility where they claimed she is being held against her will.
"Hi guys، just checking in with all of you who have been concerned about me،" Spears said in the video. "All is well. My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately so I just needed time to deal. But don't worry I will be back very soon."
