Israeli President Reuven Rivlin began doing a round of consultations on the formation of a new government at the President's residence on Monday، The Jerusalem Post reported.
Blue and White representatives met with President Rivlin and recommended that Benny Gantz form the government.
Meanwhile، Rivlin started his series of meetings on Monday with officials from Likud. He'll then meet members of the other elected factions، in order of largest to smallest، to hear their recommendations، before formally appointing the candidate he believes has the best chance of building a parliamentary majority.
Minister of Tourism and Aliyah and Integration Yariv Levin from the Likud recommended that Netanyahu form the goverment. President Rivlin asked Levin what would happen if Netanyahu does not succeed in receiving 61 recommendations.
"He still would be not only the best candidate but the only candidate who can form a government،" said Levin.
