Zimbabwe Football Association (ZFA) has confirmed that a woman fan was killed in a scramble outside the national stadium in Harare ahead of a match against Congo in the African Nations Cup qualifier on Sunday.
According to local reports، fan Mai Tadawia was killed outside the stadium because of the crowd scrambling. "Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the fan who died of the stampede during a match for the (combatants) team yesterday،" the Zimbabwe Football Association said in a statement on Monday.
"We must continue our efforts to make the stadium entry process smoother and to avoid the recurrence of such unfortunate incidents."
Zimbabwe won 2-0 to secure the African Nations Cup finals in Egypt in June and July this year.
