A leaked sketch of the upcoming Porsche Cayenne Coupe has surfaced on Instagram، previewing a model expected to be revealed prior to the Frankfurt motor show this fall -- perhaps as early as this month. Planned to share the majority of mechanicals with its SUV sibling، the Cayenne Coupe will aim for the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Coupe and the BMW X6، mining a trendy new segment. No new bodystyle by a German automaker goes unanswered for long، and in this case Porsche has shown some restraint، possibly due to the fact that the standard Cayenne is rakish enough as it is.
One design detail that the sketch does not show but hints at is a retractable spoiler that has been spotted on prototypes in testing. In the sketch، it masquerades as sedan-style trunk، but it will in fact deploy to a raised position، sitting south of yet another spoiler bill integrated into the roof. In short، there will no shortage of spoilers attached to the bodywork of the new Cayenne Coupe، perhaps reflecting the stylistic tastes of the SUV coupe audience. What can we say? Porsche knows what its customers want، and in the case of the Cayenne Coupe it happens to be spoilers.
Aside from a swoopy profile، the Cayenne Coupe is also expected to feature a lightly restyled front fascia to better distinguish itself from its long-roofed twin. It's not visible in this sketch، of course، but glimpses of camouflaged prototypes suggest that the Cayenne Coupe will feature a few extra stylistic departures to stand out from a sea of standard Cayennes. Expect a slightly differentiated interior and rear seat positions to account for a revised roofline along with more modest cargo space، but that's unavoidable.
