Dr Mohamed Moeet، Minister of Financial، said today that Uganda had tried to tax electronic commerce and social media websites، but she couldn’t success. The minister added that his ministry is studying reasons of Uganda’s failure to avoid them. He stressed that taxing ads of social media websites may be an important part of tax revenues. New mechanisms should be set to handle developments in technologies. Ads wouldn’t be appeared on newspapers. Dr Moeet unveiled during opening” a forum named” Public Finance… some important aspects” mounted by the Egyptian Center of Economic Studies، that his ministry is phrasing a bill for electronic commerce and taxing social media websites. He pointed that experts met with representative of Google and other companies.
