Dr Hussein Al Shafae، adviser of the Russian Space Agency in Egypt، said that the Egyptian satellite named “Egypt Sat A” was launched on Thursday from an airbase in Kazakhstan in Central Asia. He pointed out in remarks to Middle East News Agency (MENA) that a high –profile Egyptian delegation monitored the launching process. That delegation was chaired by Dr Mahmud Hussein، Head of the National Agency of Remote Sensing and Space Sciences along with other scientists. Also a Russian delegation that compromised space scientists attended that event. Dr Al Shafae revealed the satellite was made through joint cooperation between Egyptian and Russian experts. He added that the new satellite has more advantages such as larger capacity of the memory. It will be used in urban planning، monitoring desertification، following water courses of rivers and other water bodies.
