The 3rd edition of Aswan International Film Festival (AIWFF) kicked off Wednesday evening، in Aswan، amid the attendee of celebrities and officials.
The edition، which runs from February 20 to 26، coincides with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi declaration that Aswan is the capital of African youth in 2019.
The festival is held under the auspicious of Culture and Tourism ministries and supported by the National Council for Women and the Cinema Professions syndicate، according to Aswan International Film Festival official website.
The opening ceremony witnessed the attendee of a large number of celebrities and officials including، Minister of Culture، Dr. Inas Abdel-Dayem، Aswan Governor Major General Ahmed Ibrahim، Indonesia's ambassador to Egypt، Helmy Fauzi، President of the National Council for Women (NCW)، Maya Morsi، Ambassador Mervat Tallawy، and others.
Among the attendee were also Ahmed Wafik، Madeline Tabar، Nour، Jihane Khalil، Amr Abdel Hamid، critic Tarek El Shennawi، Sherif Ramzy، Mohamed Al-Adl، Dorra، Yosra El Lozy، and others.
Dr. Inas Abdel-Dayem gave a speech during the opening ceremony، where she expressed her sincere condolences to Egyptian Armed Forces martyrs.
She continued: “The Aswan Festival has achieved great success during the past two years، noting that the festival in its third edition comes during the selection of Aswan as the capital of youth، and Egypt presidency of the African Union.”
She concluded by saying: "The festival is dealing with serious experiences revolving around women's issues.”
The minister thanked and paid tribute to the festival organizers and to the governor for their support and backup.
The opening edition witnessed the honoring of Menna Shalaby، Barbara Bushia، and Mohsena Tawfik.
