The Arab-European Summit is set to kick off in Sharm al-Sheikh on Sunday February 24 as More than one country has announced its participation in the two-day summit، which is considered an important step for the development of the relations between the two sides.
The two-day summit will gather، for the first time، heads of the member states of the Arab League and the European Union. It will be co-chaired by President Sisi and President of European Council Donald Tusk، according to the EU’s statement.
Slovakia Prime Minister، Peter Pellegrini stressed on the importance of Arab-European Summit، considering it as a historic moment in the relations between the two sides.
In an interview to Middle East News Agency (MENA)، Pellegrini said that this Summit is an opportunity to boost cooperation between the Arab world، and Europe regarding various issues in order to consolidate stability and security، in addition to enhancing Economic، Social، and technology development.
“The Summit is considered as a forum to discuss the strategic، political and institutional cooperation”، Pellegrini said، adding، “The regional cooperation is key to finding solutions to current challenges facing European and Arab countries”.
Moreover، Slovakia PM pointed out that the anticipated Summit will tackle the ways to bolster the economic cooperation between the Arab and European Countries as well as the trade relations، and investments in energy، and infrastructure fields.
The Prime Minister of Slovakia expressed the hope that the European Union (EU) and the Arab League (AL) would unite to mobilize public and private funding for climate and water initiatives.
