NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has said the alliance has yet to make a decision on withdrawing troops from Afghanistan.

Staltenberg said in remarks broadcast by the Afghan channel "Talou" on Wednesday that the alliance is not intended to stay in Afghanistan forever، but its goal is to fight terrorism، support، training Afghan army، and police forces to stabilize the country.

He stressed NATO's strong support for a peaceful peace agreement in the country، praising the role of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his initiative for a ceasefire and the start of the peace process last year.

During their meeting in Brussels، the NATO defense ministers review the current situation and exchange views on how best to continue to support the further development of Afghan security forces and current efforts to move forward the Afghanistan-led peace and reconciliation process led by Afghanistan.
