Egypt`s Football Association (EFA) headed by Hany Abu Reda sent an official letter to the African Football Confederation (CAF)، requesting that the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted by Egypt to be held on June 14 instead of June 15.
EFA`s request comes for organizational reasons and its desire to increase the number of fans attend for the opening match.
Noteworthy، Egypt won the right to host 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)، Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Sixteen members of the CAF executive office voted for Egypt، while South Africa received a shy vote.
For the first time، twenty four national teams will participate in the tournament.
The African Nations Cup is scheduled to witness the participation of 24 teams in a first-ever event in the history of African football، where participation was always limited to only 16 teams.
Noteworthy، Egypt submitted their bid alongside South Africa to host the finals after the rights were taken away from Cameroon late last year، according to Goal news website.
According to CAF، Cameroon was not ready to host a successful and expanded 24-team tournament.
