Egypt believes in Lebanese state institutions` ability to form national government: FM

Lebanese President Michel Aoun received Egypt`s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry today after arriving in Beirut to participate in the Arab Economic Summit.

At the beginning of the meeting، Sameh Shoukry was keen to convey the greetings of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to his lebanese counterpart، Michel Aoun، said Foreign Ministry Spokesman، Ahmed Hafez.

Shoukry stressed Egypt's full pride in the close and distinguished ties between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

He expressed the keenness of Egypt to enhance all aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries، as well as developing channels of communication and consultation on the issues of the region in support of the path of solidarity and joint Arab action in the face of various challenges in the region.

During the meeting، Shukri stressed Egypt's full commitment to supporting Lebanon and its state institutions in a manner that contributes to stability in the country.

He pointed to Egypt's confidence in the ability of the Lebanese state institutions to succeed in forming a national government representing all the Lebanese people in the near future.

Hafez said in his remarks that the meeting also touched upon the overall developments in the regional situation، stressing the need to push forward the joint Arab action mechanisms in the face of crises and exceptional circumstances in the region in order to preserve Arab national security and safeguard the interests and capabilities of the Arab peoples.

For his part، President Michel Aoun asks Shoukry to convey a greeting message to President Al Sisi.

In his message to Al Sisi، Aoun appreciated the distinguished relations between the two countries and expressed his country's appreciation for the important role played by Egypt in consolidating peace، stability and development in the region..
