Head of the General Egyptian Book Organization and the Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF) official organizer Dr. Haitham Al-Haj will hold on Thursday a press conference at the Al Manara International Conferences Center (AMICC),to announce the details of the book fair’s golden jubilee، held under the auspices of Minister of Culture، Dr. Inas Abdel Dayam.
The Minister of Culture and the book fair guest of honor، Ahmed Aboul Gheit، Secretary-General of the League of Arab States، are scheduled to make an appearance.
‘Agreement transport the public to Cairo Book Fairgrounds’ Informed sources told "Sada el Balad" that the Minister of Culture will announce during the press conference details of an agreement with Governor of Cairo governorate، Atef Abdel Hamid، Public Transport Authority، and to transport services in Egypt، to provide modern buses to transport the book fair audience from Tahrir Square، Abasseya Square، Al Amireya Square، and Elmazalat Square to the fairground.
The prices of buses allocated to transport the public to the book fair range between 6 - 8 pounds per person، according to the sources.
The book fair will take place from January 22 to February 5.
The book fair will be hosted in a different place this year. The first time it moved was in 1969، after it was held in the Cairo Opera House، which moved later to Nasr City.
The book fair had received in 1984 the same backlash for moving the book fair، as its current face after it was moved to El Tagamo El-Khamis.
The transition is for the best as the fairground in Nasr City was damaged after years of hosting the book fair، thus the transition is for the better، especially since this edition is the book fair’s golden jubilee session of the exhibition of the book، which witnessed great development.
The book fair will be held daily from 10:00 AM – 08:00 PM (Cairo local time).
CIBF is held under the auspices of Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
‘This year’s edition focus on the African continent and youth issues’ The book fair focuses this edition on the African continent and youth issues، where it is scheduled for a hall entitled “Panorama Africa” to be allocated، Sada el Balad learned.
The hall is focused on highlighting the African issues in conjunction with Egypt's taking over the presidency of the African Union and the organization of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)، which coincides with the allocation of space to discuss the continent issues with the participation of creatives from the African continent.
The book fair will also witness the allocation for a lounge to discuss youth issues in the framework of the country’s interest in youth and in discussing their issues and reflections.
