Al Azhar`s Grand Imam، Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb received the Pakistani Army Chief of Staff، Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajw.
Al-Tayeb said that Al-Azhar has been exerting great efforts for years to confront terrorism and protect young people from extremist ideology by developing curricula to deal with the most important contemporary concepts and issues، as well as holding international movements and conferences to emphasize Islam's rejection of terrorism.
He added that Al Azhar established Al-Azhar Observatory to confront extremism، as well as providing bridges of dialogue among various religions and cultures.
Al-Tayeb expressed Al-Azhar's readiness to support Pakistan in the face of terrorism and providing scholarships to to teach in religious institutes in Pakistan.
For his part، the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani army expressed his great happiness to meet the largest Islamic symbol in the world، expressing his country's appreciation of the efforts of the Grand Imam to clarify the medium of Islam، and correct the false image issued by the terrorist organizations of the religion.
