Egyptian Minister of Environment Dr Yasmin Fouad held a meeting with her Japanese counterpart Minoru Kikuchi and his accompanying delegation this morning to consolidate common visions and discuss ways of cooperation in the fields of environmental work.
The meeting was attended by and Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Environmental Affairs and Sustainable Development.
The meeting discussed strengthening cooperation between the two countries، especially in the areas of biodiversity protection and ways of managing nature reserves in cooperation with local communities.
The two Ministers also reviewed the Stoya Initiative for the Protection of Biodiversity and its post-2020 Plan، as well as ways to benefit from the ecosystem in facing natural disasters.
This came on the sidelines of the 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 14)، which is currently hosted by Egypt from 17 to 29 November in Sharm El Sheikh.
