International institutions، like the World Bank and the IMF، stressed the importance of the initiative of the Egyptian political leadership to invest in the health and education of human elements، This initiative coincided with a similar one launched by the World Bank in the same regard.
The Bank's officials affirmed their keenness to support and finance the Egyptian initiative to invest in the human element. This has been already done during the past period and resulted in the signing of many agreements between the World Bank and Egypt to finance projects in health and education sectors.
On Friday، Dr. Sahar Nasr، Minister of Investment and International Cooperation، presented Egypt's achievements in the field of development during a session on sustainable development goals in the presence of Antonio Guterres، UN Secretary-General.
During her chairmanship of the 2018 African Union، the Minister is expected to present the achievements of Egypt during the current year to promote African development interests and priorities. The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation will also hand over the chairmanship of the African Union next year to the State of Ghana
She will meet with World Bank officials including Cristalina Georgieva، Managing Director of the World Bank and Dr. Farid Belhadj، Vice President of the World Bank Group for Middle East and North Africa، to discuss areas of cooperation between Egypt and the Bank in the coming period.
The development of the Sinai Peninsula will take the priority during the meetings. A roundtable will also be held during the meetings on the development of Sinai، with the participation of World Bank leaders and ministers from member countries. Egypt is expected to present major development and investment projects in the Sinai Peninsula.
