Lebanese superstar، Tania Saleh will perform Wednesday evening at El Genaina Theater، in Al Azhar Park، Cairo governorate.
The concert will take place from 08:00 PM – 09:30 PM (Cairo local time).
Noteworthy، Tania Saleh is a contemporary alternative Lebanese singersongwritervisual artist، one of the rare female singerssongwriters in the Arab world and one of the most respected independent artists in the region، according to Tania Saleh official website.
Her lyrics mirror the reality of the LebaneseArab social and political turmoil. Since her early debut in 1990، she has experimented with various genres، always challenging herself to explore new styles (musically، lyrically and visually)، which has resulted in a fresh and original mix of Lebanese contemporary art.
She revives traditional Arabic music like “Tarab”، “Mawwal” and “Dabke” but also experiments with folk، alternative rock، bossa nova، jazz and most recently electronic music.
Her collaborations are very eclectic: Ziad Rahbany، Toufic Farroukh، Issam Hajali، Charbel Rouhana، Ibrahim Maalouf، Rayess Bek، Khaled Mouzannar، RZA، Nile Rodgers، Charlotte Caffey، Tarek El Nasser، Natasha Atlas، Bernd Kurtzke، Anneli Drecker، Mathias Eick، Kjetil Bjerkestrand، Terry Evans and most recently Khalil Judran.
To date، she has released 5 albums، "Tania Saleh” 2002 (self-produced)، “Wehde” 2011 (self-produced)، “Live at DRM” 2012 (self-produced)، “Shwayit Souwar-A Few Images” 2014 (co-produced by the Norwegian label، KKV) and “Intersection” 2017، an audio visual experiment combining street art، Arabic calligraphy، poetry and contemporary electronic music (co-produced by the Norwegian label، KKV).
She released many independent music videos directed by various talented Lebanese artists and film directors: Nadine Labaki، Amin Dora، Chadi Younes، David Habchy، Obeida Sidani and Elie Fahed.
She wrote the song lyrics for two of Lebanese director Nadine Labaki’s feature films “Caramel” (2007) and “Where Do We Go Now?” (2011)، and co-wrote with Rayess Bek the title song of Philip Araktinji’s film “Heritages” (2014). Many of her songs have been used in various television and radio programs، online journals and film soundtracks worldwide.
Tania was featured as one of the main Arab artists in the PBS-produced film “Dissonance and HarmonyArab Music Goes West” and in compilation albums around the world: “Songs From a Stolen Spring” (NorwayUSA)، “Bagdad Heavy Metal” & “Desert Roses 5” (USA)، “Radio Beirut” (Germany)، “Sunset in Marrakesh” & “La Fleur Orientale” (Turkey).
In 2015، her 4th album launch concert was sponsored by The Baalbeck International Festival. She wrote and performed a special song on the occasion of the festival’s 60th anniversary which was used as their end-of-year gift.
She has collaborated in musical workshops and residencies in Lebanon، France، USA، Norway، Sweden، Germany، Dubai، Switzerland and Egypt.
